Maternal Kombat was a tag team comprised of Sindel and Kitana.

In the Mortal Kombat franchise[]

Sindel and Kitana have a...difficult relationship in the original games. Sindel was originally the queen of one of the many realms invaded by Outworld emperor Shao Kahn, and was forced to marry him, eventually killing herself. Kitana is then raised as Shao Kahn's daughter, but rebels and allies herself with Earthrealm during the events of Mortal Kombat II. And in Mortal Kombat III, Shao Kahn raises Sindel from the dead to be his minion, although Kitana's eventually able to break Shao Kahn's control and free her mother.

That's the old universe, though. In the 2011 Mortal Kombat reboot, Sindel and Kitana never patch things up. Sindel winds up (spoiler alert) brutally murdering nearly all of Earthrealm's forces, including Kitana. Her rampage only ends when Nightwolf sacrifices himself to kill her. The reboot does not fuck around.

In the VGCW: Female Division[]

Whatever continuity they're from, Kitana and Sindel have seemingly put their differences behind them in VGCW. The two first met in the ring on opposite sides in an inferno match on April 22nd, which Kitana won - although Kitana was later sighted holding up signs in the crowd during Sindel's matches, showing the first hints that their relationship was in decent shape after all.

With the announcement of the new tag-team championship, Outrealm's royal family joined forces officially, entering a match against Cobra Twonit. But the Close Quarters Combat skills of the newly-returned Boss and newcomer Meryl proved greater than their Klose Quarters Kombat, and they were defeated when Kitana was pinned by Meryl.
